Aprender a aprender en el Odinismo.
A todos nos ha pasado alguna vez, que leemos un texto con un título seductor como “La historia perdida de los elfos protogermánicos” (es un ejemplo, ese libro no existe) y, en automático, nuestro condicionamiento occidental cristianizado se activa esperando un texto con pocas suposiciones y muchos absolutos… lamentablemente, así no funciona la historia.
Gracias a nuestros valiosos aliados y colaboradores, hemos tenido la oportunidad de analizar la historia desde diversos estilos. Hay autores que no se arriesgan y nos presentan un análisis riguroso de lo que ya se demostró muchas veces, otros le dan rienda suelta a su entusiasmo y nos toca a nosotros filtrar la información de su propia gnosis personal inverificable, también hay otros autores que defienden tesis fascinantes que, lejos de confundirnos, nos invitan a tomar riesgos e investigar por senderos que no habíamos considerado antes. Aquí ningún texto está prohibido.
¿Cómo se aprende a aprender?
En primer lugar, necesitamos entender que la Tradición no viene condensada en un texto sagrado, más bien, está tan dividida y dispersa que realmente es un prodigio que aún tengamos material qué estudiar. Hay que entender que evolucionó con las sociedades germánicas, luego llegó el cristianismo y volvió a sufrir modificaciones; con todo esto no esperemos una reconstrucción inmediata.
A continuación, voy a proponer un esquema de aprendizaje que me ha funcionado maravillosamente:
1- Define bien el objeto de estudio que te interesa. Si lo que necesitas es saber, por ejemplo, cómo convertirte en Odinista, lo que debes buscar son las BASES del Odinismo. Tu tarea, en ese aspecto, será tomar nota de todo y analizar qué cambios requieres hacer en tu vida para ir adaptándote a tu nueva espiritualidad. Toma tu tiempo en esto, nadie te está apresurando pero se constante.
2- Comienza por textos sencillos, pueden ser artículos cortos que hablen sobre uno o varios de nuestros dioses. Has preguntas sobre el simbolismo de los poemas alusivos a ellos que presentamos a veces en el foro, da un paseo por Wikipedia (no tiene nada de malo, estás empezando), conócelos poco a poco, desde el que más te llama hasta ese que no logras entender. Mantén la mente abierta.
3- Ya que sabes lo básico de nuestros dioses, sugiero que conozcas los pormenores de las esferas del Yggdrassil (los nueve mundos). De una vez te digo que no todas tienen la misma cantidad de información y que el Alfheim y el Svartálfheim son los que guardan mayores misterios (y eso que, en teoría, son los mundos más cercanos al nuestro).
4- Como ya se mencionó antes, la parte difícil de esto es aprender a clasificar nuestras lecturas generales con las siguientes preguntas ¿cuál es el objetivo de este libro? ¿es un texto de análisis histórico o de misticismo? ¿qué tanto conozco de su autor? ¿qué información me sirve en este momento? Recomiendo mucho que cuando estés leyendo textos antropológicos o tratados sobre arqueología, subrayes todo el apartado de simbología, ahí tendrás claves para futuras investigaciones que tú puedes hacer solo o en equipo.
5- Los Odinistas somos muy intuitivos con nuestros estudios pero eso no nos hace indisciplinados. Hay una historia oficial, tradiciones y costumbres relacionadas entre sí, palabras cuyos significados originales arrojan datos, poemas antiguos, prácticas modernas, otras ramas del Heathendom, etc. La información está ahí, pero te recomiendo que traces una línea sobre aquello que te trajo hasta esta puerta y que ese sea tu punto de partida.
6- No te agobies. Esto no es una competencia de ver quién sabe más que el otro. Lo que intento mostrar de manera sencilla es la variedad de información que tenemos y cómo puede complementar nuestros conocimientos, esto no es algo que se consiga rápido. Además del conocimiento bibliográfico, tenemos también las experiencias. Tus primeros blots, tus primeras experiencias místicas, el entrenamiento de tus sentidos, eso también es parte crucial del proceso, no lo menosprecies, solo recuerda que es algo muy personal.
Aprender a aprender es un proceso donde “descristianizamos” nuestra mente. El conocimiento personal contribuye mucho a este proceso. En el Odinismo se nos enseña a tener mucha libertad intelectual, por lo que una de las áreas a educar es precisamente esa; lidiar con una mente desbocada es la primera tarea de quien se asume Odinista.
No quiero alargar mucho este texto ilustrativo, mas que nada porque me gustaría conocer sus métodos y experiencias de aprendizaje en el apartado de comentarios. Recuerden que esta información no es absoluta y que hablo desde mi humilde experiencia.

It has happened to all of us at some point, that we read a text with a seductive title such as "The Lost History of the Proto-Germanic Elves" (it is an example, that book does not exist) and, automatically, our Christianized Western conditioning is activated waiting for a text with few assumptions and many absolutes… sadly, that's not how history works.
Thanks to our valuable allies and collaborators, we have had the opportunity to analyze history from different styles. There are authors who do not take risks and present us with a rigorous analysis of what has already been demonstrated many times, others give free rein to their enthusiasm and it is up to us to filter the information of their own unverifiable personal gnosis, there are also other authors who defend fascinating theses that, far from confusing us, invite us to take risks and investigate paths that we had not considered before. Here no text is forbidden.
How do you learn to learn?
In the first place, we need to understand that the Tradition is not condensed in a sacred text, rather, it is so divided and scattered that it really is a wonder that we still have material to study. It must be understood that it evolved with the Germanic societies, then Christianity arrived and underwent modifications again; With all this we do not expect an immediate reconstruction.
Next, I am going to propose a learning scheme that has worked wonderfully for me:
1- Define well the object of study that interests you. If what you need is to know, for example, how to become an Odinist, what you should look for are the BASES of Odinism. Your task, in this regard, will be to take note of everything and analyze what changes you need to make in your life to adapt to your new spirituality. Take your time on this, no one is rushing you but be consistent.
2- Start with simple texts, they can be short articles that talk about one or more of our gods. Ask questions about the symbolism of the poems alluding to them that we sometimes present in the forum, take a walk through Wikipedia (there's nothing wrong with it, you're starting), get to know them little by little, from the one that most appeals to you to the one that doesn't you can understand, keep an open mind.
3- Since you know the basics of our gods, I suggest you know the ins and outs of the Yggdrassil spheres (the nine worlds). At once I tell you that not all have the same amount of information and that Alfheim and Svartálfheim are the ones that keep the greatest mysteries (in theory, they are the closest worlds to ours).
4- As mentioned before, the difficult part of this is learning to classify our general readings with the following questions: what is the objective of this book? Is it a text of historical analysis or mysticism? How much do I know about its author? What information is useful to me at this time? I highly recommend that when you are reading anthropological texts or treatises on archaeology, you underline the entire symbology section, there you will have keys for future research that you can do alone or as a team.
5- We Odinists are very intuitive with our studies but that does not make us undisciplined. There is an official history, interrelated traditions and customs, words whose original meanings yield data, ancient poems, modern practices, other branches of the Heathendom, etc. The information is there, but I recommend that you draw a line on what brought you to this door and that is your starting point.
6- Do not get overwhelmed. This is not a competition to see who knows more than the other. What I try to show in a simple way is the variety of information we have and how it can complement our knowledge, this is not something that is achieved quickly. In addition to bibliographic knowledge, we also have experiences. Your first blots, your first mystical experiences, the training of your senses, that is also a crucial part of the process, do not underestimate it, just remember that it is something very personal.
Learning to learn is a process where we "de-Christianize" our mind. Personal knowledge contributes a lot to this process. In Odinism we are taught to have a lot of intellectual freedom, so one of the areas to educate is precisely that; dealing with a runaway mind is the first task of the assumed Odinist.
I don't want to make this illustrative text too long, mostly because I would like to know about your learning methods and experiences in the comments section. Remember that this information is not absolute and that I speak from my humble experience.
