Encontrar el equilibrio entre tantas mentes creativas no siempre es tarea fácil, más aún cuando nuestro culto promueve precisamente el diálogo y la escucha activa antes que la imposición de una idea. En tiempos de profundas polarizaciones ideológicas, mantener el rumbo sin caer en extremismos es parte de nuestro compromiso como Odinistas.
¿Pero qué nos hace una Hermandad?
Bueno, entendamos primero que la Tradición considera tres importantes círculos o esferas de acción; individuo, familia (clan) y tribu. En el caso del Odinismo, al ser una reconstrucción contemporánea (como todas las ramas del Heathendom), también se consideran los lazos de fe que nos unen desde todos los rincones del mundo aunque en esta vida no logremos conocernos a todos.
Una hermandad religiosa surge cuando hay un panteón, un código moral y una forma de culto en común. Nosotros como Odinistas tenemos muy en claro el equilibrio y la moderación sin caer en hipocresías (es todo un arte que exige absoluta madurez mental). Entendemos que para muchos hermanos es difícil sobrellevar los cambios vertiginosos de nuestro tiempo, pero también consideramos la necesidad de adaptarnos a nuevas circunstancias ¿por qué? porque lo que nos une es el respeto y la profunda devoción que sentimos por nuestros dioses, tan diversos entre ellos.
Personalmente, como aprendiz de Guðja, me interesa tejer puentes e integrar a todos en una comunidad sólida de aprendizaje y trabajo en equipo. Pero para que esto sea posible es importante que nunca perdamos de vista el objetivo principal, además de identificar a tiempo cualquier indicio de extremismo que podamos encontrar en nuestras filas. Sentirse parte de algo puede elevar la moral como nada en el mundo o destruir a alguien hasta convertirlo en un monstruo, la historia puede dar fe de ello.
Una hermandad es aquello que nos une pese a nuestras diferencias, un espacio donde familias de todo tipo (tradicionales, homoparentales y otras) buscan difundir nuestra fe e inculcarla con el ejemplo. Es un lazo colaborativo en el que trabajamos, aprendemos y compartimos aquello que puede servir al hermano, se parezca o no a nosotros.
Me considero una incansable activista por los derechos de las mujeres y la comunidad LGBT, por lo que uno de mis compromisos con esta Hermandad es visibilizar el trabajo de ambos grupos. Esa fue mi elección, como cada quien es libre de representar al grupo con el que se sienta más identificado. Esta gente me importa por razones muy personales y quiero que como Odinistas se sientan integrados en nuestros espacios, pues nuestro código moral aplica para todos sin distinciones. Pero así como yo, también habrá otros que integren a más sectores que no están lo suficientemente visibilizados. Estos temas siempre deben estar presentes cuando pensamos en lo que es una Hermandad.
Queda claro entonces que al decir “Hermandad Odinista” hacemos alusión inmediata a todos los que siguen nuestro camino a sabiendas de la diversidad que existe. Somos un frente común cuyo principal objetivo es formar a las nuevas generaciones de Odinistas para que continúen el trabajo que aquí hacemos y lo mejoren. Porque ser Odinista no es añorar el pasado, sino abrir las posibilidades de edificar a aquellos que nos van a superar en todo. De eso se trata, de ser mejores y que otros lo sean aún más.
Por todo esto, en medio del caos en el que está sumergido el mundo, quiero pedirles que permanezcamos unidos y que tengamos en mente la difusión de la Tradición.
Estudiemos juntos, preguntemos, investiguemos, así es como este lugar se ha construído, esta sala de encuentros y desencuentros, donde lo que importa es que cada quien encuentre y elija a conciencia su camino.

Finding the balance between so many creative minds is not always an easy task, even more so when our cult promotes dialogue and active listening rather than the imposition of an idea. In times of deep ideological polarization, staying the course without falling into extremism is part of our commitment as Odinists.
But what makes us a Brotherhood?
Well, let us first understand that the Tradition considers three important circles or spheres of action; individual, family (clan) and tribe. In the case of Odinism, being a contemporary reconstruction (like all branches of Heathendom), the ties of faith that unite us from all corners of the world are also considered, even if in this life we do not get to know everyone.
A religious brotherhood arises when there is a pantheon, a moral code and a form of worship in common. We as Odinists are very clear about balance and moderation without falling into hypocrisy (it is an art that requires absolute mental maturity). We understand that for many brothers it is difficult to cope with the vertiginous changes of our time, but we also consider the need to adapt to new circumstances. Why? because what unites us is the respect and deep devotion we feel for our gods, so diverse among them.
Personally, as a Guðja apprentice, I am interested in building bridges and integrating everyone into a strong community of learning and teamwork. But for this to be possible, it is important that we never lose sight of the main objective, in addition to identifying in time any sign of extremism that we may find in our place. Feeling part of something can raise the moral like nothing in the world or destroy someone until they become a monster, history can attest to this.
A brotherhood is what unites us despite our differences, a space where families of all kinds (traditional, homoparental and others) seek to spread our faith and instill it by example. It is a collaborative bond in which we work, learn and share what can serve our brother, whether or not he resembles us.
I consider myself a tireless activist for the rights of women and the LGBT community, so one of my commitments to this Brotherhood is to make the work of both groups visible. That was my choice, as everyone is free to represent the group with which they feel most identified. I care about these people for very personal reasons and I want Odinists to feel integrated in our spaces, because our moral code applies to everyone without distinction. But just like me, there will also be others that integrate more sectors that are not sufficiently visible. These themes should always be present when we think about what a Brotherhood is.
It is clear then that by saying "Odinist Brotherhood" we immediately allude to all those who follow our path knowing the diversity that exists. We are a common front whose main objective is to train the new generations of Odinists to continue the work we do here and improve it. Because being an Odinist is not longing for the past, but opening the possibilities of building those who are going to surpass us in everything. That's what it's all about, being better and others being even better.
For all this, in the midst of the chaos in which the world is submerged, I want to ask you to remain united and keep in mind the spread of the Tradition.
Let's study together, let's ask, let's investigate, this is how this place has been built, this room of meetings and disagreements, where what matters is that everyone finds and chooses their path conscientiously.
